After a spell-binding two-piano show at the beginning of last season, pianomen Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and David Vest agreed to return this season for a Bassment Benefit. Born in Spokane, Washington, raised in New Orleans, and now based in Kelowna, Kenny was the winner of the 2006 JUNO Award for blues album of the year and was inducted in 2017 to the Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame. At the forefront of modern day blues practitioners, Kenny is a one-man cheering section for the days when blues and jazz met the roots of rock and roll. Born in Huntsville, Alabama and raised in Birmingham near Tuxedo Junction, David Vest played his first paying gig in 1957. He has played piano for Big Joe Turner, wrote songs for Tammy Wynette, toured with country star Faron Young and Red Foley, and co-led the Paul Delay band. Now living and working in Victoria, David has won the Maple Blues Awards and is considered one of the best living boogie-woogie piano players.
