GuitarFest: Sons of Django, Rory Lynch & the Moultet, and Neil Hendry
Sons of Django pays homage to the music of Django Reinhardt, the Belgian-Romani guitarist who fused American and French jazz with a flamenco technique in the 1930s and ’40s. Performing classic Reinhardt compositions as well as popular jazz standards and contemporary manouche pieces, the Sons of Django are Stephen Davis (lead guitar), Rory Lynch (lead guitar), Lorne Deighton (rhythm guitar), and Emmett Fortosky (bass).
Toronto guitarist Rory Lynch’s most recent project, the Moultet, features Brett Graham (vibraphone), Emmett Fortosky (bass), and Kyle Krysa (drums). This dynamic, exploratory quartet’s repertoire blends elements of jazz, Afrobeat, and indie rock.
Guitarist Neil Hendry is a happy member of Toronto’s So Long Seven, an acoustic quartet that plays jazz, classical, blues, folk, and world music. In 2020, Neil released an EP of solo guitar music called Cairo the Cat. His second solo guitar EP, By Its Own, will be out very soon.
